UNTO DUST 1
UNTO DUST is an ongoing series of sculptures based on a single sculpt of a solitary man lost in thought. Each of the figures is electroformed in copper using a mould taken from the original clay figure. The electroforming process was developed in the 19th century as a way of producing printing plates and can be manipulated to produce a range of textures and colours in the metal, and each body is subtly adjusted to reflect shifts in attitude and emotion. The resulting works form a collection of sculptures that are closely related, but each one is unique.
